Launceston is a city in the north of Tasmania and a short two hour drive north of Hobart. It’s one of Australia’s oldest cities and dynamic hub for food, wine, nature and culture. It’s a great place to stopover when travelling around Tasmania so it’s worth factoring in a day or two here whilst on your campervan trip, especially if you’d like to visit the Tamar Valley.
If you’re a thrill seeker and love heights then walking The Alexandra Suspension Bridge is for you. The bridge is over 100 years old and located in the centre of the Cataract Gorge & First Basin Reserve, and offers excellent views of rapids below. If you’re lucky you might spot a wild peacock! The reserve is a short 10 min drive from the CBD and parking available at the reserve.
